Race expectations

When a race debrief gives feedback against expectations for your time considering fitness and conditions.

Are the conditions weather and elevation?

Can the race debrief include if its trail, or does it already?

Yes, both. The expected time is adjusted for weather (heat, cold and wind) and for the course: its elevation profile and terrain, including trail and rough surfaces, are built into a course difficulty adjustment. When the weather moves the target noticeably (2% or more), the debrief says so, e.g. “the heat”. As of today it no longer adds a separate sentence explaining the course adjustment, but trail and hilly courses are still accounted for in the number. The debrief doesn’t label the race as trail in words yet; the race card shows the terrain. Thanks for the suggestion, noted.
